February 13 – The House and Senate both approved the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which contains several provisions intended to keep the wind energy industry growing in the current adverse economic and financial climate. The legislation includes a grant program to monetize tax incentives for renewable energy, a three-year extension of the production tax credit, provisions to promote transmission for renewable energy, and a removal of the cost cap on the small wind investment tax credit. The legislation is expected to be signed into law by the President on February 16 or 17.
The future in Wind Energy is looking bright, the intent to extend the production tax credit is what we have been pushing for, five years was the goal but three years is very optimistic. This is exciting...a grant program to monetize tax incentives for renewable energy??? What is that all going to be about? !!Till tomorrow....or maybe the next day!
